Konon2, this was my face while looking for him around CCK. Muka kena matahari(ini petikan muka fed up time kat terengganu..oh ya..terenggau..I'll post abt that trip soon..but for now,anyway,) look at my father in law.?
Just wanna intro him....looks angelic rite?..but can sometimes make us craack n crumble with his gelagat....*sigh*
HOWEVER,....I LUV U, BAK!(kalau my mum in law kan, dia panggil Bah-ngkau!)

PSG Raya 2006

On wednesday,22nd Nov,our PSG(Parent Support Group) cum Taman Bacaan mothers berjalan raye.Oh ya,4 those who do no,I am very active in the school's PSG,currently the In-charge of the Taman Bacaan (Malay LSP Programme)with a team of members.Have been in this for 3 years and counting.Great support from my mates.So,every raya we jalan2 collection.This year lambat sikit due to the exams and stuff. Consisting of myself,Ros,Azlina aka Adek,Nor,Sally,Sahmah, and a new member Kak Yati.Kak Normah couldn't join us - babysit somebody.(Why do they call it babysit anyway? Do we SIT on the baby?..duh..)Anywaez...our kids also joined us.Takpayah ckp berapa byk la..cukup to goncang dunia punya..
1st stop - Kak Yati's place. Served roti kirai/jala/renjis plus kari daging.Lupa nak tanya daging ape tapi ini di tanggung halal punya lah.Ada goreng pisang or ada org ckp,pisang goreng.Pisangnya jenis tanduk.(Baguuuuuuuusss...)Air oren gas.I tak dpt jamah roti kirai pasal tinggal brape keping je dok dibaham kekawan yg lain.(Any of u reading this, u know who u are!..hehe..)So,I telan itu banana sama air oren.Good combination?...Burp!!
2nd stop - Sahmah's place.Served nasi ayam and sambal udang.Air..eh..lupa lah. Aku tak minum rupanya..apa lah Mah..!Kuih pun lat lat tinggal itu je.
3rd stop - Sally's place.On the way 2 her house,basah sey kita kena hujan rahmat yang lebat ya amat merentas dari rumah sahmah to the nearest bustop.Takpe..air aje ape.Served murtabak crackers.Kes Mami Bon punya resepi la.Air teh/Milo,ada koktel jugak.Kat sini,Adek dgn aku berlumba sape boleh melepas dulu..(what goes in,must come out whaaat...ape nak malu..sape yg suka simpan,tu kira simpan najis tau namanya..hehe)
4th stop - Rumah Datin Seri la..sapo lagi.I served kari ayam pekat melekat untuk dicecah dgn roti perancis.Ada epok2 TJ.(Bukan promosi-setakat honest,beli kat Prime)Ada salad timun,telur,tomato-ah..ni buat sendiri tapi telur tu ayam punya kerje..Air Fruit Punch yg lazat membasahi tekak kawan2ku yg da penat terkekek ketawa.Satu dram oi!
5th stop - Nor's place.Penat tau.Jalan kaki.Da berat tabuk(perut) satu2,..kena jalan.Adik tak ikut pasal tu rumah akak dia sendiri.Dia balik terus dulu pasal baru nak masak berserta cuba untuk melepas..kat rumah sally dgn i, she failed to let go.Anyway,we're served with mee goreng siam...eh..ke..mee siam goreng?..ah same la tu..Air,sama dgn saya punya.
6th stop - Adik's place.Served tomyam udang dgn bee hoon/bee hoon laksa.Air sarsi.Since last week kita dah pegi rumah ros,this will be d last house 4 d day lah..perut satu2 jgn ckp lah.Mcm ngandung kerbau.Macam2 khazanah ada kat dalam.Dah la tu, dari siang sampai sekarang,kita amek gambar kat tiap2 rumah pasal nak post kat sini. Saya punya rosak,jadi harapkan Ros punya footage.Kalau tak jadi,bole nangis air mata darah - pasal- posing mcm nak rak,bole terbalik rumah orang..kita punya gambar tak tau lah berapa roll.Ros bwk d digicam/videocam + d old classic camera yg kena taruk felem.Tak kira lah - janji ada bukti kita jalan raye.
Akhir kata,we had FUN d whole day.I'd like to thank each of u my frenz,for being such a happening lot.I post this not to mock but as a reference and a nice keepsake 4 all of us.(u guyz know what happened the whole day, yah?!hehe)Semoga kita berSyawal lagi di lain tahun,

Oh..Bapa mertuaku..

Last Tuesday,..mmm...how shud I say it. Supposed to send my dad-in-law to CCK Polyclinic for a review chk up. 2 wks ago, I sent him there due to an injury below his right eye. Badly bruised with an open wound.Why? Terlanggar tiang.Cause?..Alamak,ni yg berat nak cakap ni..pasal tengok orang baris kat Home Team Academy (his workplace).Jgn ketawa,jgn senyum, kalau tak, I pun turut sama.Anyway,found out dat he had hypertension too and thus,the Tues appt.Actually,kul 10am,but I asked him to come down n wait 4 me at the bstp after rec'ving my call,coz I'll pick him up by taxi. Dahlah the nite b4,he kol me mcm nak rak 2 remind me - ngalahkan budak2 excited nak g picnic.Sekali,besok,wen I wanna hail a cab,I kol mum-in-law and she said dat he oredi went out as early as 8!..
Aiyoh..dia mana ade hp,mana nak cari dia!I took a cab(kira kamikaze la),tapi dia takde kat pickup point. I JLN KAKI IN THE SCORCHING MORNING HEAT to Keat Hong,Supersave,ST 41,2 cari dia. Tak adak!M-i-l da bingit. I LAGI bingit.So,took another cab to Poly.Dlm ati,kalau takde, I balik ah..Sekali,wen enquired kat reception, dia dah registered himself and now waiting at rm 54.I bedesup naik atas,to look for him,only to be greeted /scolded by him from afar,:
" Oi!! Ngkau ke mana!!????" Dia pekik kuat orang seme tengok kat muka I yang dah mcm nak rebas orang tua ni..(sori,bak..panggilan manja aje ni..)I excused my self to pegi to where he's seated.Nak pukul tak bole, I pun terus salam.Nasib baik,bole control..kita tanya dia,dia marah kita balik.Org tanya nape gi pagi2, dia kata "abey aku nak minum dulu.." hai.....apa nak cakap lagi? Busuk2 pun, orang tua....tapi dalam hati yang tgh menggelegak time tu, berbisik pula : "Biar Allah saja yang tahu, dear bapak mertua ku...."

A Celebration 2 remember!

I couldn't describe today. The feeling of being thoroughly pampered overwhelmed me thru n thru.Thot that this year,it's gonna be the same like the years b4..my bday wud be just another day passing by.Instead I went for a gathering/Raya lunch @ the floating resto in Kg Melayu,by EDN Media Publishing.Since its strictly by invitation only, I went alone.Ate what I could fm the rather simple yet delectable little buffet.There was a live accoustic performance by 3 musicians: guitarist,flutist-cum-violinist and a rebana-ist.(Aper ntah..)I thot the guitarist played quite well,expressing his music thru his smiling eyes.When he began to sing, I was like..OMG! He sounded EXACTLY like my luncai emas!(M Nasir lah..)When we queried,he turned out to be Zainal, M Nasir's 3rd bro!That explains it..(Eh..he quite cute tau.The smile looks sincere..I hope it is!)Then I went home at abt 6,to a decent-looking tidied house,adorned with balloons,(!),courtesy of my 2 girls and their cuzzins,Yah & Ina.Surprise,surprise!There's a bday cake too(heavily laden with choco).We had a little 'party' and I, FOR THE VERY 1ST TIME,blew a candle!..I know,I know,they said it's not gud but hey!what the heck! secara suka-suka je..no negative motive.
My 2 girls + the cuzzins bought me gifts,wrapping helped by another niece-Ijan.(Thx,dear!)I got a Mom & Dad mugs,and a bear-bear,named.......CHUBBY!..I swear it is the name sewn/embroided beside his butt.SOOOOO CUUUUUUUUTTTE!.Will post e pics soon as my eyes are watering now...wanna zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....1st.

Rumah ayah saya

On that day, we adik beradik went to Pontian to beraye dgn Dad.Me,elder sis Icah, younger sis Lela + family chartered a van which brot us there and anywhere we wanted(asal bayar laa..)Younger sis Yanti tak ikut pasal da nak branak. Youngest Bro,Boboy,dah la tanak pegi, buat bodoooooh aje. Tunggu punya tunggu, tak de news. Geram betul. Kalau orang baru kawin, dah bole buat anak 10 tau.Fed up punya pasal, I hentam tengok SCV Ch 61 & 62.Cerita cina.Sekali movie after movie, cerita antu.Takut punya pasal, kejut husband.Dia punya ngorok, antu dengar pun,rambut gugur.So, takde choice,I tengok cartoon sampai pagi.(pasal apa tak tdo pon, tak tau..)

We set off dlm kul 7.30am. I got my big bantal bucuk yang gemuk lagi gebu with me untuk beradu dalam van. Sampai sana dlm 10am agaknya.We're warmly welcomed and I hugged Dad ever so tightly. His fatherly scent of perspiration brot back memories of my childhood growing up under his tyranny and reminded me of his years of toil in bringing me up.Whoever he may be, whatever he might be,no matter what he did to me, he'll always be my one n only daddy.And it I shall bring his name with me to my tombstone.(*sob*)And also - I hope he's proud of me..
Anywaez,my stepmum(my parents were divorced)fed us with a traditional feast of kampong dishes which we gobbled like some beastly vultures.(lapar oii..dari pagi tak makan,takut sakit perut nanti cari jamban,seksa!)Dia punya Daging Masak Kicap...YA ALLAH!!!! SUBHANALLAH!!! Sedap ya amat...

This year's hari raya is a special one for me and all - why?
becoz............. TAHUN NI SAYA TAK NGAMPUL!!(sape tak tau maknanya pegi ask around)

Special coz finally i got to round up the family to actually help out in managing the cck home.We pooled up to buy some necessities and also contributed the raya goodies + lauk. I contributed London Almond and Ayam Masak Merah. Sedaaaap..(sape nak puji kalau tak diri sendiri,ye tak?) Satu malam tak tido buat Kek Marble Yang Paling Last Minute tapi Paling Sedap Nak Mampos 4 my own mum.Then, in the raye m'ning at cck,I dozed off glamourously on the kerusi pak awang while waiting for the rest of the siblings' arrival.Managed to take a pic of the whole gang,with the exception of Mr&Mrs Ngah, yang kita tunggu mcm nak reput. Apeeerr je...

Mee Rebus Daging

My fren Sally first made this and surprise,surprise,..being the cerewet(picky)person that I'm famous for, I tot it's quite good.Maybe it's the succulent daging that accompanied.What we ate outside is like a vegetarian version,just noodles,sprouts,gravy,tofu,chilli..but the TETEL (hate the pronounciation) and the daging in this brings out that carnivore in you!Be generous in that.U'll thank me.I love to add bagedil,fish sticks,or anything fancy to make sure MY mee rebus comes WITH THE WORKS!

Abok-Abok Pelangi

Mee Goreng

Anybody can fry noodles but not every1 will produce a taste similar to one another.Another humble dish, with lots of versions,best consumed while piping hot.I like mine to be a bit wet. Dry fried noodles will only choke u like a pandan cake eaten during a typical seminar coffee break,without any drink.

Recipe

500g yellow noodles
30cents worth of bean sprouts(taugeh la)
a bundle of sawi/chye sim/spring greens
1 carrot - julliened (cut into strips)

a bowl of shrimps/prawns-shelled,deveined
a bowl lean beef - boiled till tender,cut into chunky strips
3 pcs of fish cake - sliced
10pcs of crabstick - cut into desired lengths

Blend finely :
10 dried chillies - seeded,soaked to soften
1tbsp dried shrimps - soaked to soften
4 cloves garlic
1 big onion
1 tomato

2 tbsp tomato sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
salt to taste

Heat sufficient oil in wok. Saute blended ingredients and fry till fragrant. Add tomato sauce,soy sauce,salt.Add shrimps,beef,fishcake,crabstick,.Stir a few mins b4 adding noodles,sprouts,carrot n veg.Stir gently juz to heat through or risk getting the noodles n veg soggy.Add some water if too dry.Turn off heat. Serve.

Kailan Oyster

Very simple, cooked to a minimum but refreshing in taste...who said that the humble veggie is a turn off?..try this..

Recipe

A handful of baby kailan/broccoli - u can cut or leave it whole
2 cloves of garlic - crushed
1 red chilli - sliced
1 small shallot (small onion)- sliced thinly
1/2 cup oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt or to taste, as the oyster sauce is already salty

Boil some water in a pot.Add some salt and 1 tsp of oil. Blanch veggie for a couple of minutes. Prepare a bowl of ice cold water in the meantime.Take out veggie and dunk into the bowl to stop the cooking process. U'll get a nice green colour without overcooking yr veg. Drain well.
Next,in a wok,heat 1 tbsp of oil,mixed with a few good dashes of sesame oil. The combi of oil will produce a glaze effect on the veg later. Saute onion,garlic,chilli and add the oyster sauce.Pour a little bit of water to mix.Add some sugar and salt.Simmer till boiling,then then turn off heat. If sauce is too dilute,u may add some cornflour solution (1 dsp cornflour + 1/4 cup of water )to thicken it.Arrange veg on a plate and pour sauce over...eat it hot!

Sambal Tumis Telur

This one never fail to whet my appetite on those days that u tot "apeerr...nak masak eh?"..Very classic but still strong in its standing.

Recipe

Boiled eggs - amount as according to your consumption

Blend together :
15(or more) dried chilles - seeded,soaked to soften or microwave for 10mins in a bowl of water
a really huge pinch of belachan(shrimp paste)
5-6 cloves of garlic
2-3 big onions
1 tbsp of ikan bilis(anchovies) granules

1 heaped tbsp of tamarind-add some water and knead to produce some juice
3 tbsp sugar or to taste (add more if chilli is too hot for u)
salt to taste

Heat sufficient oil in wok(it's ok if u add too much-u can always scoop it out after cooking)and saute blended ingredients.Make sure it's cooked (tumis sampai betul2 pecah minyak),stirring continuously.Add tamarind juice,sugar and salt.Add some water if u like some gravy but the consistency shudn't be too dry nor too dilute.Taste to suit yr liking. Add the bolied eggs (u may fry the boiled eggs for a more unique texture).Coat gravy over eggs and simmer for a few minutes bf turning off the heat.Serve.

My first attempt on this was so powerful,(on a boasting mode,here)with the addition that the one u see here is cooked last minute on a ramadhan evening(cannot taste,what..) for iftar - I decided that it wud be 1 of my signature dish.Best accompanied with ayam merah or rendang or anything la..but the salad is a must to cool down that gullet!

Fish n Chips

One of my all time favourite - FISH & CHIPS - done in MY way.
Unlike those sold in the halal-western food joints/kopitiams, I prefer to add fresh scalded broccoli and carrots as my side veg to the usual so-called coleslaw. The Dory fish is fried tempura-style (not breaded) and topped with the classic tartar sauce,with an extra dash of crushed capers. Not forgetting, - lemons - a must to complement the entire taste.

Unfortunately for this pic, I do not have fresh potatoes so therefore I used ready-to-fry crinkle cut potatoes. Normally I'll cut the potatoes into very big chunks of wedges. And I mean REALLY big chunks. With your favourite hot chili sauce in hand, enjoy!... and don't forget to use a fork and knife,..it gives you that feeling of being at Swensens'!
